When grocery shopping, would you spend more for all natural foods or do you save a buck on the chemically treated stuff?

So, my wife does interior design for a couple firms around KC. Anyways, she started doing this grocery store that sells only natural foods (No chemicals, organic type stuff). It costs a bit more, but she thinks we should shop there. Got me to thinking, whats everyone else do?
A) Do you grab the altered, pesticided, hormoned foods
or
B) Do you get the natural, organic clean-as-a-whistle stuff?

I'm a type A guy myself. And I would set up a poll, but I'm too damned dumb to figure out how. :(

Usually A, but there are exceptions to the rule.

Also, I try to hit the farmer's market in the summer to get the locally grown fruits and veggies.

Localy grocery store has been selling banana's one organic, the other regular. I tried both and there was no taste difference but there was a $0.70 increase in price so i'll stick with the cheap stuff. :)

A

Although I do like my bread to be as unprocessed as possible. I just like natural whole wheat better than white bread.

Remember, A feeds the world, and life expectency has increased dramatically since A started. If everything was B, there would be mass starvation.

All natural foods tend to have a shorter shelf life and cost more. I have not seen any proof that all "natural foods" are healthier but you might be able to convince yourself that they are....

I am a poor college student, so I go as cheap and easy as possible.

If I had money though I would probalby get some of the organic stuff. But to do that it is generally better to go to a organically oriented store, instead of just getting natural at Safeway.

organically grown stuff is not clean as a whistle. poop is not clean as a whistle. higher chance of all those baddie microbs on organic stuff. it costs more too:p growing chemicallly probably more efficient also. but its psychologically nice for some people.

Choice A.

I use to work at a grocery store (wally world super center) We sold a huge line of organic stuff, no one would buy anything besides the plain flavor tofu ocassionally. Usually threw away a few hundred dollars of expiring organic goods a week just to replace it again, I could not understand it...

A sliding scale based on price, and taste.. No preset preference. Didnt even know that stores would sell two types.

If you get the RIGHT organic stuff, it actually is better. You just need to go to the right places (like a Farm that has a little market selling stuff they picked that day, a totally Organic oriented store that gets the best organic stuff, etc.).

Let's see.. choose between lower-cost food altered and hormoned to increase yield and appearance, and pesticided to kill parasites and insects, and more expensive "organic" food with bugs and less yield and perhaps not as good an appearance..

Give me the altered stuff any day. Those pansy-ass organo-hippies can go fork themselves, for all I care..

Well, the clean-as-a-whistle was figuratively speaking of course. Having lived on a farm for most of my life I have seen both sides of the coin (The for sale crops on 400 acres vs the natural stuff in the back garden).
I really dont have a preference either way, but if one was to be safer for me then another I would choose the safer option. But again, on the other hand having been a smoker for 12 years who used to have a healthy liking for hard drugs in college and still occasionally drinks, if I have to worry about something contributing to my death it would probably be what I've already done to myself moreso then what I'm eating....
6 one half dozen the other.

But still interesting to see the opinions and whatnot.
