Mine will go from R to N to R or D to N to D but not R to N to D or vise versa or R to P/P to R without pressing the button. Just noticed that last night.

Is the button the brake? Brake has to be pressed in sometimes for mine. Depends on how fast I'm goin and how hard I pull....

same exact thing with my car. im pretty sure its designed that way. so that when you go from D into N, you dont accidentally overshoot into R. wouldnt be pretty in some cases.
