When driving, have you ever hit a bird?

I always slow down for birds on the street and they always seem to fly away at the very last second.

Anyone actually hit one (without trying)?

funny that you mention it.... a few days ago I saw a couple of birds on the road and thought that they will fly away as they normally do. Well, one did and the other was crushed by my car. I later figured that it was a parent and baby that could not fly. I felt bad :(

Edit

A bird hit the windshield of my wifes cars. Scaring the crap out of her and my kid.

Yep, I was riding with my dad and a SEAGULL bumped my dad's car. I looked back and saw no results. I just wanted to see how seagull react to hitting my dad's car.

Also, I was riding in a public bus one day and a crow hit some car in front of us. When the crow hit the car, it spinned backwards and hit the ground hard. It didn't move so I assumed the crow was dead.

I don't think I have -- my dad has hit one, and I saw a full-size truck hit a buzzard at about 60mph..feathers went everywhere, and the bird went maybe 20ft up (hit the windshield of the truck). It came down not too far from my car..

He was just resting; crows do that a lot.

Sometimes they are pining.

I almost hit an owl once. That scared the crap out of me. Flew right in front of the car.

My brother hit a duck with his Trans Am. The duck flew into the passenger side mirror, and knocked it inside the car. Dunno about the duck.

Yep, all the time. One ran into my friend's wheel-well as we were driving down the road a few days ago. Several years ago a turkey dive-bombed my car and hit the A-pillar.

For the first few months after I got my truck, it was a bird killing machine. I went to my now wife's house, and there was a bird in the grill. She made me bury it...

I hit a bat before, when used to live up in the mountains of North GA, it got guts on my car!

Also I was with my friend when he hit a ground owl, which are protected where I lived at the time.
