At the rate that some avatars put their names in thread titles - you would think it was a popularity contest or an election. If you are so bothered by apoppin please just stop reading his posts and stop responding to him. That way you will no longer have to deal with him and you will no longer be filling up threads with useless comments - it's that simple.

Financially, AMD is f**ked. Private equity likes to invest in companies with stable/growing positive cash flow and dominant market position (e.g. Seagate when they went private). AMD doesn't have those characteristics. High-techs are usually too volatile for their taste. IMO, one of the few ways to raise the necessary working capital from private equity or other sources to survive is if AMD management can convince them with a turn-around plan that probably would have to involve fab divestitures, massive R&D cutbacks (in the short term) and sizable employee layoffs. They need to get out of ICU before even thinking of winning a triathlon against Intel or Nvidia right now.
