When does it become abandonware?

Ive been looking for a while for return fire 1 for the PC, and I seem to be failing miserably. So i was wondering, does anyone know of a store out there that sells old games like return fire? And if there exists no store anymore that sells it...how long must a game be out/who tells us/is there a site that says when a game becomes abandonware?

any help would be appreciated, thanks

legally, only after the copyright expires, which iirc is 100 years. any other definition is from someone who just wants to download stuff for free.

It was my understanding that some companies can choose to make it abandonware, like 'return to krondor' or something


Edit:...by a hundred years...i just put some thought into that....so that means right now there are....um.....0 abandonware software games
