When does ATI's new Intel P4 chipset come out?

I'm planning on building a new system soon.... when does ATI release the new Intel chipset? I know it's soon.....

Not entirely sure, but why would you want to use the ATI chipset? In my experience, Intel chips always do better with intel chipsets. I had an asus p4r800 with the first ATI chipset, and had several problems with it. It didnt want to work in dual channel mode, no matter what ram I used, and the onboard graphics refused to work with my ATI tv tuner. Go figure, I had to use an Nvidia video card, on an ATI chipset, to get an ATI tv tuner to work.

ATI's R9100IPG PRO chipset increased memory bandwidth and other improvements. Put it pretty much equal to the i865 but with far superior graphics.

The new ATI chipset is supposed to have graphics far better than the X300SE built into the chipset. It's supposed to be an x600 variant, which is very, very nice for onboard.

Just wondering if anyone had heard anything - especially since I'll be building in January.

The first two are simply the not-so-new Radeon 9100IGP Pro boards - the new ones are a totally different architecture with much improved features (and graphics too.)

I must admit - the A64 solution is extremely tempting... A64 is what I think I'll be basing my new system off of and it'll be nice to always have half-decent graphics to fall back on during a card change.

Pity a VIVO card for PCIx16 won't be cheap - but I'll live. 😉 4xDDR is great! If they switch to DDR2 I'll be most upset.... DDR2 is accurate - PRICE of DDR x2! Ugh..... $$$

OK I see, then you were after RS480+SB400 since SB450 won't be out in time for your build. The way things are going it looks like that MSI is the only thing that will be available in time, A64 is the better option IMO anyways.

How far away do you think SB450 is? And what bonuses does it offer?
(Time to start Googlin' that one.)

I can hold off until Feb. if I have to - but I'm running on an underclocked P3-550 right now.... I don't want to wait much longer than I have to!

Reading the page already. 😉 Beat you to it!

OTOH.... if Audio if the only gain, it's no bonus. I'll be using a pro-audio card with proper ASIO2 support anyways. And I DON'T mean SandBlaster! (No matter how many kids say how great it is... it's for games, not pro-audio apps!)
