the b/f does it for me.

:)

does that mean, you do not know how to put gas in the car? ;)

I can fill the tank, change the oil, do a tune up and replace the battery.

But he likes to do stuff like this for me. It is way of showing me that he loves me. Actions speak louder than words... and one of the ways he he tells me that he loves me is to ensure that I have a well maintained, safe vehicle with a full gas tank.

It took me a long time to learn to give up some of my independence. Just because I could do something for myself did not mean i had to prove it all the time. It makes him feel good to do things for me. Just as he knows how to cook and do laundry, it makes me happy to do these things for him. He is really blue collar and when he comes home after 12-15 of busting his ass, it makes me feel good to have something nice cooked for him. Or that there is always fresh, clean towels waiting after a shower...It makes him feel good to know that I am safe in the car, will not break down or run out of gas.

it is cool.

I usually fil it around half. I dunno if it's ture about the relation to the gas tanks in cars exploding in relation the the emptiness of a tank from an accident, but I don't want to risk it. But my main deal is that I can fill up the tank and not have to have 30+ dollars to fill it up. I don't know what it is that's gratifying about having a full tank of gas most of the time.

Whenever it's convenient after 1/4 tank.

On my old car, in the 5 years that I've had it, the gas light went on about 3 times.

Those were very stressful times trying to find a gas station.

1/2 or just a little below...

I'm surprised more of you guys don't kill fuel pumps running your tanks dry like that..

I rarely go below 1/2. If it's at 3/4 and I got time, which I usually do, i'll stop :)

When I'm driving and am not sure if I'm going to make it to where I planned on going.

Usually at about 1/4. My gas gauge is very unforgiving - if it gets below the 1/4 mark, the car will sputter around hard corners. If it gets into the orange (1/8) it will sputter going up hills - you're on thin ice at that point.

Depends on the environment. Usually sometime shortly before I would hit the 1/4 remaining mark.

That said, I've intentionally ran it down to E... the "Fuel Needed" light kicked on when the DIC reported that I had about 50 or so miles left before the tank was empty. I ran it down to 0 miles... and was then uncomfortable going any farther, so I refilled the tank. It holds something like 16 gallons, but the most fuel I've ever been able to put in the tank without risking overflow is 13.0 gallons... :-\

That's usually how I do it too. :)

Actually I can let it run into the yellow under the 1/8 tank mark near E...I've only had the warning light/chime come on once since I bought this car last September. I've never had a fillup be more than about 14-15 gallons, and my tank holds 18.

if you fill at 1/8, youre essentially paying for 1/8 of the tank youll never use...

if you fill at 1/4 of a tank you will be putting in less gas then when you fill when your tank is empty...

???

lol..Its ok, x04d day or whatever the fvck his name is, has just had a lapse in judgement. He just didn't think it through.

I think he means that the initial 1/4 that you fill will never be used because you never run down the tank all the way, so you paid for 1/4 of a tank of gas once that you'll never use.
