When do refreshed ThinkPads come out?

I'm in the market for a PC ultrabook, but I see that the new line of ThinkPads, like the X240, came out in September-October of last year.

Is that the typical season for new models to be released? If so, I might wait a couple of months and stick with my 2nd generation Core-i3 notebook until then. But if there is no standard timing for refreshed models, I may just go ahead and buy something. Any advice appreciated.

Also, related question--Any thoughts as to what the best 13" or smaller ultrabook is? I'm leaning towards ThinkPad X240 or ThinkPad Yoga, but am not married to the idea. Thanks.

Wouldn't be surprised if something popped up at the IFA trade show in September, but no guarantees. A lot of companies are waiting on Intel's Broadwell architecture, which doesn't ship until the very end of the year (and more realistically, early 2015). I'd say that you're fine if you buy something Haswell-based and don't mind that Broadwell is roughly half a year away.
