When did you grow up?

raising children makes you grow up quick. But as they get older and thier toys get cooler, you can become a child again.

17 i don't think ill ever grow up...
unless i have to work to pay off college then i might grow up and actually start caring

but as of now im smart but i just don't apply myself don't do homework and such....so horrible horrible daily averages in highschool but much better test/quiz averages keep me afloat

Hard to tell.

I'm 24, happily married, one daughter and another on the way. We own our house, drive a 4 door family car, have a cat, 2 budgies, and fish. I have a stable career in programming (sitting at a cubicle all day). We go to church every Sunday. We don't really party, rarely bother drinking, and get tired at 10pm.

BUT

I speed, play hockey religiously, own every video game system on the market and play games all the time, I wear a Decepticons T-shirt to work, have toys all over my cubicle, watch cartoons, doodle, and laugh at fart jokes.

So I guess I'll let you know if I ever really consider myself &quot;grown up&quot;. 😉😀

july 17, 96...i was only 13, but almost died in a real bad fireworks accident involving a half stick of dynamite, spent a few weeks in the hospital, then the entire summer lying around in the house, really made me see how immature i was, real painful too

Good question...

It's strange. I've always been more &quot;grown up&quot; and mature than my peers, but lately I've been feeling like I'm expected to be completely grown up and I just don't feel that way yet. I'm 23, which sounds old to me, yet I get no sympathy from older people who all say 23 is young.

I guess what's really prompting my confusion is the fact that a great deal of my friends and acquaintences are either in serious relationships or are already married. I feel this sort of generalized &quot;pressure&quot; to find a girl and settle down. But every fiber of my being says that I'm not ready for that. I went to Europe late last year and had an absolute blast. It was a total enlightenment for me and it made me want to go back and revisit everywhere I went and see the rest of the world. However, once you've got a wife and little rugrats crawling around, those desires take a serious back burner. Don't get me wrong, I do want a wife and kids, but I don't see those as being priorities at all. I've got so much more to do before being tied down by those things. But the fact that all my friends are tying the knot is causing me more than a little grief (like &quot;if they're doing it so should I&quot😉.

But I know that it will happen when the time is right. I'm single now though so there isn't much chance of it happening in the near future. 🙂

As far as other realms of being &quot;grown up&quot;. I'm living on my own, working as a consultant, paying all my own bills, cooking my own meals, doing my own auto maintenance, etc. I'd say that those all qualify me as being &quot;grown up&quot;. They all feel like second nature now, but it is kind of strange when I think that I'm surviving completely on my own.

I guess growing up is kind of a scary thing for me. I didn't have nearly enough fun as a kid so I'm not as ready as some to &quot;give it all up&quot; and become a boring old man who goes to bed at 10pm every night and whose idea of a good time is taking his wife out for dinner and a movie. No offense to all of you who do live that life, but I'm just not ready for that yet.

Edit: LOL Optimus, I typed that message before seeing yours! I wasn't referring to your post at all. Sounds like you're very happy with where you are in your life. I'm jealous in a way!

32 and I'm still waiting to grow up.😀
