When did YAHOO start requiring us to key in some code to send email?

conjur

No Lifer
This freakin' bites.

I noticed I couldn't send email from OE so I went to Yahoo and sent a reply there and got a screen that I have to type some alphanumeric code to send an email (spam fighting measure)

What a PITA!

I just had to do this when I sent a large ( more than 20 recipients) holiday greeting.
meh, no big deal to me. If it keeps spamming down I'm fine with it.

You can use your ISPs mail server for outgoing. That's what I do.

BTW, I just logged into Yahoo! Mail and sent a message without having to do this.

There are times I don't like using my conjur.com email to reply to people, though. 😉

That's retarded for ease of use... great for spam prevention...

as someone else stated... if they only did it to people with multiple recipients then that is fine.

no, use their mail server... (i.e. smtp.conjur.com instead of smtp.yahoo.com)

I think what he is saying use your POP for incoming but use your ISP SMTP server for outgoing.
Thats what i do at work. All my incoming mail comes from their respoctive POP server but all my outgoing mail gets routed through work's SMTP server, you still use different email addy's its just your not trying to go through a buncha diff servers

I've not attempted to setup relaying so I can send from a yahoo address through my domain. I just like being able to pick my yahoo address in the account drop-down in OE when sending a new msg and have it get sent via Yahoo's servers. Can't do that anymore.

Exactly. The from email address will still be your Yahoo! email address. The only info that will be different is the sending server IP address which doesn't even matter.

You'd still be doing that basically. True it wouldn't be their servers but that would be transparent to you once it's set up. Just go to "Servers" tab for that account's properties and change the SMTP server name.

Hmm...hadn't thought of that. Just tried it and the test msg seems have to vanished into the ether.

Hmmm....

Just tried it and it didn't happen to me, though I was only sending to one person. I'll try a mass mailing some other time.
