My roommate and I have been watching Cheers a lot recently, though we have seen less than one season. We are wondering when Rebecca came in and when she took over the bar. If you have dates or episode numbers, that would be great.

Dude, it happened right after you left the room to use the bathroom...it was a normal episode when all of a sudden, BAM! Rebecca walked in and said "I own all your !@$%%# asses now!!!" You belong to me!!!"

Then she brandished a pistol! :Q

But right as you walked back in, she threw the gun under the bar and acted normal. What a bitch. That's why you didn't see it.

Wasn't it b/c Sam couldn't make some mortgage payments and Rebecca thought the bar was a good investment and took over? I'm guessing that was shortly after Diane decided to write her book and fly to Europe.

In the show it was because Sam sold the bar to a corporation and Rebecca was managing it. Sam came back because he bought a sail boat with the money but he crashed it somehow and came back to Boston.

In real life Kirstie Alley took over from Shelly Long because of either a contract dispute or Longs desire to make feature films.

*buzzer*

Rebecca was dating a rich tycoon and Sam got inside info of an impending hostile takeover. As a sign of appreciation the corporation sold the bar back to Sam for $1. Sam didnt have the money at the time so I think they settled on 63 cents IIRC.
