I used my Visa debit card to make a purchase at Newegg today. Before the order was completed, a "Verified by Visa" screen popped up. It asked me to fill in more information about my card.

What is this service? The visa site wasn't much help in answering the question. Also, when did Newegg start this? I used my Visa last week and did not have this happen.
 
This happens with Dell.com and my BOFA VISA credit card.

It's annoying because I always forget my password.
 
It can't be as bad as Steam. When you order a game you have to give them the security code on the back of the card. I don't have my own CC or ATM so I used my mom's and her's is so old that it was scratched off and I couldn't make out the numbers too well. You only get two tries too, and I had to use both to get it right.
