When did magazines get so expensive?

I was used to paying 3 or 4 dollars off the stand or $23 for a 12 month subscription. Now, I'm not able to buy magazines that interest me cause they're more along the lines of $9-12 for an issue or $50 for a 6 month sucscription.

Last three magazine subscriptions that I got were free...

One of which being playboy 🙂

Lol, I wish I could, but I'm 15 livin with my parents, hehe

Ain't missing much. There is better stuff which is freely available on the internet.

$50 for 6 months? What magazine is that?

My Maxim subscription is about $1/month. Scientific American is about the most expensive I've seen and it's $25/year.

Another post for "what mags are you buying?!"

I got Gamepro for free (but hey, out of 200 pages 116 were covered in full page ads) and I paid $25 for a three year subscription with Car and Driver.

An nba magazine is about $7, altho subcriptions for it are very cheap. They'd much rather lock you in with a subscription.

The better questio to ask is, since when did PC magazine get so thin? I remember it being a thich tome of a magazine.

They have been recycling the same headlines for years. Every month is, "Speed up your internet" or "How to optimize your PC!" or "How to do wi-fi/home networking/etc"

My boss used to keep PC Mag archives for YEARS. I went through them all and every six months the headlines were recycled. It was pretty funy, but sad too.

I want to buy Guns and Weapons, but the magazine itself really is expensive if you buy it from the newstands... Might as well subscribe.

PC mags can't even keep up with the internet sites. A coworker came upto me and said "Have you heard about the new P4s?" about 4 months after I read multiple reviews, detailed descriptions of the CPU and chipset, the cost, and anything else you might want to know via places like AT. Automags are a bit more friendly since the cars change only once per year (if that) and thier targets would rather NOT be spending time on a computer.

True, but, you can't read the internet on the pooper.

Well, you could with a laptop and a wifi connection, but that's too much effort.

As long as people sit down in the bathroom magazines will rule that domain.

You thinking of Computer Shopper? That was the one that used to be about 1" thick....

Two things killed that, I believe, one the advertiser's are few since alot of the dot.com crashing and many retailers had a hard time placing the format on their shelves designed for standard sized mags.

You pay ofr mags ?

I got in on those free mag deals, and my mailbox is full of the mags ( Maxim, Playboy, FHM, Stuff, Fine Wine, etc... )

I never even buy magazines. Every other page is an advertisement in most nowdays. I just read stuff on the net. If doing that bothers your eyes, buy an LCD and everything will look just fine as it does on paper.
