When did Kelloggs change Corn Pops to just "Pops"

Why can't they just call things by their original name, ie. "sugar corn pops", "kentucky fried chicken", etc.

because its not corn, nor is it chicken.

it became KFC when they got sued because they use genetically modified organic chickens, and are no longer allowed to use the word chicken...

Geez, don't do that. There are people who really believe that's true.

the same time that SUGAR Smack just became Smacks or whatever. (the box with the frog on it)
People think its better for you if it is more nondescriptive.
I am surprised Frosted Mini Wheats say frosted as well as Frosted Flakes

On the KFC - Kentucky Fried Chicken I heard they were having to pay the state of Kentucky to use the name so to save money they started calling it KFC to save the fee.

They probably couldn't use Corn Pops since there's no actual corn in the cereal. But Frosted Mini Wheats and Frosted Flakes are obviously frosted.
