Somewhere between when I was in school and my kids school years, there was a big change. I've gotten several answers - but they're all different.

So I'm asking the experts. Thanks.

Because media is changing.... It's changing the names idea/concept in my opinion.

I've always considered it middle school. If it includes 9th grade, it's a junior high, and if it doesn't it's a middle school.

Always been middle school, but I'm only 18 so...

Must depend on the grades involved as others said. 6-8th (middle) or 7-8th/9th only (junior high)

I do believe my mom went to a junior high school. That's when like the elementary school goes from 1-5 and 6-9 were Junior high School. That was in Puerto Rico though.

K-8 = elementary
9-12 = high school.

it depends on where you are talking about
some places still have junior high school, but most places have switched to middle with a four year high school

my high school switched to including freshman when i was a senior in 1984

no, back in the day junior high was 7,8,9

when it was switched to middle school, it is 6,7,8 and the ninth grade was moved to high school
