When did downloaded demos/games start to install automatically on the PS3?

Was it in the last firmware update? I didn't even know this feature was implemented until I just tried to install the Resistance 2 Beta and noticed it was already installed.

Edit: Hmmm, just d/l'd LEGO Batman from PSN and the game didn't auto install. Must be some option you have to turn on. No biggie, manual install doesn't bother me.

Ya, it was the last update. I welcome this feature. I didn't know it was in there either, and after I went to look for something I just downloaded so I could install it, it was missing. Finally found it at the bottom of the games list waiting for me to play .

Oh ok, I get it now. This only happens if you don't use background download. I always use background download, that's why my LEGO Batman demo didn't auto install.

I set mine for background download, but then used the new Turn off when downloads finished option. I guess it auto installs, then shuts down.

Hmmm, the more you know. I don't use auto shut off after download option.

Why doesn't background downloading work while watching Blu-ray? It seems like a great time to get some d/ling done.

the ps3 goes into a different mode when playing a blu-ray so it will be quieter, so you can't download stuff while it is playing.

This is what I did when I first discovered the new feature as well. I queued up about 3 downloads, then set it to turn off once downloading completed.

Where is the place that you set the option to Turn Off When Downloads Finished? I couldn't find it the other day.

I don't see why it doesn't install during a background download - that's generally how I download everything...
