It depends. Does it look like it needs it? Sometimes the water will leave foamy crap all over it and I rinse it off, otherwise I am lazy and just eat it the way it is.

Olive oil is the best, especially the flavored stuff

speaking of which, which would be best, extra virgin, virgin, or standard olive oil? (for this purpose, anyways)

Ususally, you don't want to rinse it. This will make the pasta hard; it's softer when warm. The idea is to take it out about a minute before the doneness you'd like as it will continue to cook when its drained.

And, you do not want to add oil to the water you boil the pasta in; this coats the pasta with oil and prevents the sauce from sticking to the pasta. Pasta shouldn't stick if cooked properly. Barilla has shown some good results with me. I like to add a dash of salt to the water, however, just for taste.

It's one of those personal preference things, I just buy it by the gallon, don't pay attention to if it's been deflowered or not😀

No rinse.
Unless I let it cook a little too long. Then I'll rinse it to keep it from getting too soft.

ok.. didnt rinse.. added a touch of butter to the noodles.

fyi: i mix it all together. even what i dont eat.. i think it tastes 100x better that way.

try heating a little olive oil in a saucepan, then add some garlic and red pepper flakes to flavor the oil

now toss the pasta with the flavored oil -- yummy
