When connecting D-sub to a DVI card, which one is the primary?

I got a Saphire 9600XT from newegg, but it didn't come with the DVI to D-SUB converter. The card does come with both DVI and D-Sub onboard, but I'm wondering if the onboard D-Sub is the secondary output for dual monitor setups.

So, is it ok, if I just plug the monitor to the onboard d-sub....or should I go out and get a DVI to d-sub convertor?
