When changing motherboards do you have to re-load drivers?

Regardless of what motherboard you are changing to, you will need to re-install the drivers for it. If you are upgrading to a newer, better system, I would suggest re-installing (Clean install) as you will notice a noticable difference in speed.

Clean install: Fdisk the drive, format it and then install. (Best performance)
Upgrade install: Install operating system from an existing system.

you can try uninstalling all your devices in the device manager and then changing out the mobo. That way your OS will redetect the new controllers and devices on the new mobo without too much conflict. However, I'd recommend doing a clean install. Its a much smoother process. Dont' forget to backup your important files!!:D

If you were going from an Intel BX to say an Intel 815, and using Win98/ME you could
do it by removing the System Devices in the Device Manager.
But since your going to be using DDR you're probably going to a VIA, SIS, or ALI chipset.
I agree, do a clean install.................
BTW....in W2000/XP always do a clean install............

It was always my understanding that Pentium III's don't support DDR RAM. And doesn't DDR RAM a higher pin count so it won't fit the same mobo? I think you better check on what RAM you are going to use.
