For 10k-11k new, the elantra is a great deal compared to other cars in it's class.
Used it's even better. The Elantra GT is an excellent bargain.

A used sonata is also quite a steal. And I think the Sorento is one of the nicest looking and best appointed small SUV's under the 21k mark.

Simply, Hyundai not likely, although the Sonatas have gotten better. Kia definitely not.

I've lived in Korea for a total of 7 years and from what I've seen the Kias just don't age well. Hyundai is by far the best- built Korean car, but when you have so many other choices in the US, I'd can't imagine ever buying one there. Especially new.

"When buying a new car. Do you consider the "Hyundai's & Kia's" etc..?"

I just bought a car and did not consider them. My choices were either cars on Consumer Reports' reliable list or something like a Nissan 300 ZX or a Lexus SC 400.

Though I do find Hyundai's waranty to be attractive, I just do not want to live with a problem for over 100,000 miles.
