So I needed to print out some color pages. Got quotes from 4 places. When I pick one do I reply back to the others and say no thanks? Or just pick the winner and move on?

It's considered courteous to at least tell them you've gone with another company. Otherwise, they're going to try to contact you again, thus wasting their time.

You never know what will happen with the quote you go with...might be a 'you get what you pay for' scenario. Plan for the unexpected, so send a 'thanks for the quote, but I've decided'...email, and that way you can comfortably still use them for a plan b if ever needed. One of them could conceivably sweeten their deal as well to earn your biz, altho I wouldn't plan on it.

This is a strange question to ask, since it's just common courtesy to notify the declined offers. It's poor business etiquette to not do it.

It depends. Those I call on the phone or have more than a couple emails back and forth I will let know. I also let them know the quote result.

Many times those same folks will say they can match that.

At that point it's really too late. I don't reply to those emails especially when my seller came in at my researched bid. I agree though too many really lowball things and don't do any research.

When you say print some color pages... Are we talking like $100 worth of prints? If so then it's a waste of time to tell them anything.

Basically unless it's >$1k-2k worth of goods/services you will not get a call back from me.
