Ok, I'm wanting to know this because I'm wanting to make a computer soon and I had planned on waiting till one of these boards came out. I really don't want to get an SLI board either and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance people.

i've got an A8N-SLI sitting on my desk right now, waiting for newegg to deliver the rest of my order. I think your best bet for a non-sli board is the Gigabyte K8NXP-9. It's freakin awesome, if Asus hadn't beaten Gigabyte to market, i'd be ordering this board instead. Hopefully, the gigabyte will dip below $150 by year's end.

The Gigabyte was the very one I wanted to get. It's not out yet is it? I might be willing to pay $200 for it if it's out now. If it's out could ya post me a link to a site for it, I only know of newegg.com thanks ^^.

Here's a place in Australia that says they will have the DFI NF4 SLI-D in stock, day after tomorrow 12/15
DFI wasn't supposed to show till after first of the year. Maybe a sneak attack!!!

I really didn't want to get a SLI board because of the dual graphics card thing and I don't really want to buy an AGP motherboard in case it dies out real quick because I don't know when I'll get to make my next computer instead of just upgrading. I'm pretty sure I might have to wait this one out untill the Gigabyte K8NXP-9 comes out. I really want that board.

Amen.

As far as i can see (cept for the BIOS - hopefully revised) this is prolly the best (and only) Socket 939 with PCI-e and some serious performance.

Hopefully a definate release date on this will come out soon... im in Australia, im guessing it'll take anywhere from a week to a month extra to get this...

I dunno if i should rush it and go for the MSI Neo Platinum and a decent AGP card, or wait for this mobo and PCI-e to come...

Main issue is that i dont wana be updating after a year to PCI-e because AGP is phased out... trying to future proof as much as possible, but its unlikely im gona wait longer than january for Gigabyte.

computerhq.com has the Gigabyte K8NXP-9 for pre-sale for $249

expensive...

i wouldn't pay more than $150 for an nForce4 non-SLI mobo

I would pay up to 175 cause its so early, but they arent out, because all the richies with two SLI video cards were too tempting for the Mobo manufacturers to lose a another second before price gauging their eyes out, so they brought that board out first.

i want to buy this mother board the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra Athlon 64 Skt939 DDR! i have a ati x800xt pci-e video card, will it run on a nforce 4 chipset like the mother board listed above or will it run only on nvidia video cards? if it does run on a ati pci-e video card, will the n4 chipset allow the ati card to run as just as good as the nvidia card if its the same performance level, so i guess what i am trying to say does the n4 chipset give a edge over the ati cards if u used a nvidia card or will the performance be the same if the cards are simular!

thanks, i like to buy this board, will my ati x800xt perform in it!

Theoretically, yes your x800 xt should perform similarly to a comparable nvidia video card. The problem is, that it might not at first. You may need to wait for ATI to improve its drivers to run appropriately on an nforce4 system. Also, I don't know how they are now, but I feel ATI is terribly slow with new driver releases. That is why I like nvidia.

I definitely understand the position you are all in. I want a new PC now! But I also want nforce4 for PCIx and the new SATA with command queuing support.

I'm having trouble following this thread. The only nforce 4 boards out now are Gigabyte and Asus? Do we have dates yet for other manufacturers? MSI? DFI? Abit? Epox? Any forcasts on which board will be the best "bang for your buck" this time around?

MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte should be the first in the market with their nForce4 motherboards. So far only the ASUS is available (or was, it's out of stock everywhere right now). I think MSI will be second (ZZF has an ETA of 12/21/04 the Neo4 Platinum).

Don't think you will have a problem. I read a review of the Asus A8N-sli where the reviewer compared single card performance between a x800xt and a 6800Ultra on this nforce4 board. The two cards where very close in performance, with each barely edging out the other depending on which benchmarks were being used. The 6800u was a little better in Doom3 and Halflife2 but the x800xt was slightly better in UT2004 and had an even larger edge over the 6800u in most of the older games.

yeah, that is the lower end of Gigabyte's nforce4 offerings. Is there a review on this board?

I believe that board only has Hypertransport at 1600Mhz instead of 2000Mhz. It must be the first revision of nforce boards that wouldn't work at 2000Mhz.

help me to understand:

are they attempting to unload their junk boards on people desperate for PCIe, prior to manufacturing the ultras?
