Well, the current Galaxy Nexus for Verizon came out around mid-december and I believe it was announced sometime in October. I suspect we are getting pretty close to hearing something soon, at the very least rumors.

Rumor is the next Nexus (phones) -- people are saying there will be different Nexus phone from different manufacturers with the same spec -- will be announced November 5th.

1: you don't have to upgrade just because your contract is up
2: November/December is the historical timing. I never paid much attention to the Nexus S but the One and the Galaxy were both announced/released late in Q4.

There has been rumors (including a "leaked" memo) showing a spec bump for the Galaxy Nexus.

The Galaxy Nexus is still a solid choice. The development activity is huge.

i kinda do have to upgrade :p my SGS2 is getting a bit long in the tooth now and i'm getting antsy. also, i want a bigger and higher res phone. this is only 4.3" and 800x480

i hope we hear something soon as when i hear the usual deals we get here in the UK for phones on bargain sites i'll probably give in and get the note 2.

i've never owned a nexus and like the idea of getting the latest and greatest OS sooner. i'm still a little annoyed that we still haven't gotten JB for the SGS2 yet. grrrr D:

What was the price of the current Nexus on release? Right now the Nexus is at $350. If it was something like $500 on release count me out on getting the new Nexus. Unless it offers MicroSD card expansion, but I highly highly doubt it.

if it was $500 then i'd jump on it - that's cheap as hell! we're probably looking at £600 which is around $950 or so.

zerocool = agreed

Yea but the specs are old. It's not long until we know about the next one so I'd definitely hold on.
True enough, but you can grab a used model for $200-$300. If you held it until the next model came out, you could probably sell it for maybe a $50 loss.

for anybody with a GN, try BAMF.

nice deal! too bad im on ATT.

I'm waiting for Nexus LTE on ATT or a boot loader unlock for my dumb Atrix 2, whichever comes first.

It will be interesting to which bands the next nexii support. Pentaband on at least one of them, I hope. AWS isn't used for 3G in too many places and even T-Mo will be using 1900Mhz for 3G moving forward. So quad-band will be plenty once that effort is complete.

Its the LTE bands that will be the big sticking point over the next few years.

The next Nexii devices will be announced at the same launch showing for Key Lime Pie, whenever that may be.
