So yeah for those who don't know I left back home when I just turn 17, and lived in the us for going on 9 years now.
This morning I am chatting with my sister to find out my mom adopted this 14 years old girl, who's parents live in the mountain and don't care for the future of their dauther. Well they don't know any better, they sent her to the city for labor basically (She is not as helpful around the farm because she is a girl...the stereo type).
My grandma is old and is staying with my mom... so my mom takes in this little girl to live with us and help around grandma (Grandma also has another full time grown up taking care of her).
I am so disappointment that my mom is accepting the fact that this girl's future is already decided by her parents sending her to the city for labor.. and she is just ok with it(I hope not).
I know the scenario this little girl is going to live... she will be with us for 5 years or so, then she will want to be like all other city girls and leave us. But being ignorant and uneducated she will be taken advantage of by some low class ass hole, guaranteed... this is how it goes down ... then she will no longer be accepted by society and find her way to some form of prostitution.
I don't know what the percentage is, but a high one of this girls end up in the street wasting their lives.
My mom knows all of this, and I am calling her to discuss what she has planned for this little girl future. I will not stand for this... if my mom is to take her in, she needs to make sure this girl goes to school in some form, and hopefully prepare her for a brighter future.

School is FREE, all my mom has to do is buy her books and maybe bus money.

You know what grinds my gears, seeing youngsters go to waste like this.

If your family is able to educate her; at 19 she should then be ready to go out into the world and know what choices there are.

I doubt it, we have had a few girls live with us and work as maids (I guess you can call them that). They were older than 14 tho and my family was able to marry them to a decent man, and they are all grown with kids now living the dream in the city I guess.
Other family members I recall had younger girls, and it is almost always the scenario I described above.
14 is little too young. I know she will be eating well and living healthy with us for now, but that is not enough... she is a human being and has right to education, and if my mom can't secure her future she has no business taking in the little girl.

Sounds like you are going to provide some hope in this case. Keep with it.

Yes... I have a desire to make a difference in this girls life... I want to think she stumbled to the right home.
It really tears me up to think she will turn out to be like the stereo type.

You sound like a good person for caring about this girl's future. Maybe you'd even have the resources to kick in a few dollars for her books? It's not often you have a chance to be that much of a hero to somebody for the rest of their life. Almost sounds like a plot from a movie.

So, you're angry with your mom for having already decided how this girl's life is going to play out, then you do the same. You're also upset with stereotypes, then state how she'll OF COURSE be like "all other city girls" and be uneducated and get taken advantage of.

Pot, meet kettle.

I didn't quiet follow your point, but my anger comes from ... here I am my gf and I always talk about how we want to give back to kids back home that waste their talent or whatever. We discuss how we can take the first steps of fighting illiteracy. (Which I believe our government isn't doing enough to fight, and they spend money building the biggest mosque in world or whatever while their people live illiterate in poverty.. this is a whole different topic that gets my blood boiling ...)
. Then my mom just goes and adopts a child and I don't think she is capable of the responsibilities that come with it. The responsibility are not just making sure she is fed and has a roof over her head, but I think if you take a 14 year old in your home you need to treat her like your own... and at least give that chance and opportunity of education.
