Macs are innovative and user friendly, but on these forums Macs are not cool.

IMO, if you cannot build it yourself and overclock it, it's not fun.

There's more to a computer than building it and over clocking it. Like actually doing stuff on it....

I don't like macs for pcs but they make excellent notebooks esp for their battery life.

The back to school promotion that includes an ipod or ipod touch usually start late May and run through early September each year. If you want to get a base/stock configuration, you may find better deals at various etailers where you might not get assessed tax on your purchase. I think at some places like MacMall they'll throw in extras like laptop cases and memory upgrades. Still, this can be offset somewhat with the educational discount at the Apple store. Finally, I wouldn't purchase an apple laptop anytime soon as they're likely going to be updated in the coming week.
