  • Say "No, I'm still using it" to help them save face

  • Deny them under the assumption that they're testing your arrogance

  • I leave my empty trays on the counter for them to put away eventually

happened to me at a different fast food. i say 'it's cool, i'll take care of it, thanks'. or 'why thank you'.

What if the employee is testing to see if you're the kind of guy that would have pawns clean up his mess after him, and will fix your meal differently depending on how you answer? To accept implies that I see my time as more valuable than that of a fast food employee, which is pretty elitist. But of course, there's also the possibility that the employee had nothing better to do or thought I was cute or something, in which case turning down his offer could be hurtful.
