"If you want someone who will fight for you, then I'm your man."

What does he mean? During the debate when he said this many times. Since he wasn't talking about fighting foreign countries I assume he was talking about fighting Americans. It sounded to me like he wants to fight one group of Americans on behalf of another group of Americans.

I assume he wants to fight single people who don't go to school, don't give health care to their parents and are not poor. And that he wants to fight for senior citizens who are the wealthiest segment of the population.

Funny how you pick news reports that fit your agenda, and ignore those that don't.. Red, you sure complain a lot.. why do you come up with some solutions instead of just complaining. If Bush is not your ideal candidate, WHO IS.. NAME SOMEONE... your whining about Bush is just getting old and making you look like a complete jackass.. start defending your OWN candidate.. who would it be?

Red is a complete jackass. We all know that, accept it, and have learned to live with it. He is a very funny jackass, however. :)

EDIT:

After reading your post right above mine, Red, I decided to add a smilie at the end of my comment just to make sure you didn't rip me a new one.

Reddawn,

For every anti-bush site there is, there is an anti-gore site.
This would become a very dull game, very fast.

<< Fsck off dipsh!t, if I do it won't be at your request. You have shown me that you are nothing more than a rotting piece of fecal matter thats best scraped off of a shoe before entering an area that humans occupy. >>

You'd make a wonderful politician Red...you're a master at evading questions. Instead of simply stating who you plan to vote for, you choose to swear at the person who asked the question.

Nice try Red, but you really should check your facts more carefully.

Health Insurance
?...Since Bush took office in Texas, the percentage of persons with no health insurance has edged down from 24.5 percent in 1995 to 23.3 percent last year, according the census. And in that same period, the national rate has gone up...? (Brooks Jackson, CNN?s Inside Politics, 10/12/00)

1) While there was a 7.6 percent drop in Texas Medicaid enrollment, there was also an 11% drop in the number of people eligible for Medicaid. The Texas economy has been strong under Governor Bush

2) The Texas Legislature only meets 140 days every two years, therefore the Texas CHIP program was not passed until 1999 and did not start enrolling children until this year. The study recognizes that the national increase in Medicaid enrollment is directly tied to the CHIP program, but does not acknowledge that some states such as Texas did not begin enrolling children until later.

3) At the earliest opportunity provided by state law, Texas enacted the CHIPs program and began aggressively enrolling children. Texas outpaced similar states in enrolling children in the CHIP program, and has enrolled over 120,000 children in the CHIP.

The increase in monthly Medicaid enrollment beginning in mid-1998 corresponded with the implementation of State Child Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP). A comparison of Medicaid enrollment data from this study and SCHIP shows that SCHIP directly accounted for 27% of the increase in Medicaid enrollment from December 1998 to December 1999 (Kaiser Family Foundation, 10/00)

Key indicators of children?s health are improving in Texas under Governor Bush. In 1994, under Ann Richards, the infant mortality rate was 7.1 deaths per 1,000. That number has dropped to 6.4 per 1,000 under Governor Bush.

Crime and Guns
Texas today has the lowest overall crime rate in 25 years. Texas has the lowest violent crime rate since 1985. (Criminal Justice Policy Council) The Texas murder rate is at its lowest point since the 1950s. (Uniform Crime Reports 1960-1999) Since Governor Bush took office, violent crime is down 20.6%. Overall crime is down 14.3%. (FBI Uniform Crime Reports 1995 and 1999) From 1994-1999, the murder rate decreased 45%, rape went down 23%, robbery went down 28%, aggravated assault down 16%, burglary down 19%, theft down 10%, motor vehicle theft down 24%. (Sourcebook of Texas Adult Justice Population Statistics, 1988-1998; Texas Department of Public Safety) In 1991, there were 2651 murders. In 1999, there were 1218. (Sourcebook of Texas Adult Justice Population Statistics, 1988-1998)

From the White House Website:
Crime Falls 15% in Texas: Since 1992, serious crime in Texas has fallen by 15%. Violent crime and property crime has also declined by 18% and 14% respectively.
Crime Has Dropped Sharply in Major Cities: In Dallas, between 1992 and 1997, serious crime, as indicated by the crime index, has declined 23%, with a 46% drop in murder and a 51% drop in robbery. In addition, serious crime has also declined 47% in Fort Worth, 32% in Beaumont, 46% in Odessa and 31% in Wichita Falls. The murder rate has fallen 52% in Beaumont, 47% in
Brownsville, 45% in El Paso, 57% in San Antonio and 91% in Wichita Falls. [1992 and 1997 Uniform Crime Reports] Juvenile Arrests Down in Texas: Texas?s juvenile murder arrests have decreased 61%. [FBI, Uniform Crime Report, 1992 and 1997]

Texas? Concealed Weapons Law has Successfully Kept Guns Out of the Hands of Criminals. Gore cites an inaccurate story from the LA Times to arrive at his faulty conclusion. Of the 215,000 concealed weapons permits issued in Texas, only 71 - or .03% -- went to people with disqualifying backgrounds, and those were immediately revoked. Of those 71, only one had actually committed a crime, and that crime was non-violent and did not involve a gun. The delays stemmed from the fact that the Clinton/Gore Justice Department took over two months to perform simple background checks.

Cops for Bush
In this election, law enforcement is enthusiastically behind Governor Bush. He has been endorsed by the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO), the National Troopers Coalition, the Law Enforcement Alliance of America, and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). The FOP is the nation?s oldest and largest police union, and both the FOP and the IBPO endorsed Clinton-Gore in 1996. In 2000, they support Governor Bush.

Economy
The poverty rate is down by more than 20% (U.S. Bureau of the Census) Texas per capita income is up by 16.7 percent between 1995 and 1998, outpacing the 13.1 percent increase nationwide. (US Department of Commerce)

Bush may have been governor of Texas, but wasn't Gore VP of the nation? There are many federal laws covering the things you talked about, shouldn't they have covered Bush's inadequacies?

Or is Gore not really such a great leader after all?

<< how can you deny them. >>

Nobody denied them. All Etech did was state some statistics that are favorable to Bush to counter your statistics that are unfavorable to him. I'm confident that both yours and Etech's are true.

It's been said before...there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

No, the thing that is downright frightning is that Gore might be elected. He will enslave the US on entitlements until the economy tanks under his taxes and the government till is broke.
Then where will we be.
No will have saved for retirement,"the government will take care of me"
No one will have their own medical insurance,"the government will take care of me"
No one will take an interest in their childs education."the government will take care of it"

It's the clearest recipe for disaster. I'm only suprised that you can't see it Red.

I'm starting to think you are secretly a Republican Red. You post the most outrageous and distorted news releases you can find about Gov. Bush.

Your plan?... You know that the conservatives of the board will rise to the challenge and prove the allegations completely false and also post the truth about Gores lies and his dangerous socialists plans for America. Since so many here are conservatives the distortions you post bring out more and more of the truth that Bush is the only logical and sane choice for America.

Thanks Red for your help in bringing the truth to American voters. Just don't overdo it. Some may not understand your true motives as I do.

All of my relatives in Texas are Democrats, and they ALL support Bush. His administration has done a good job in bring together the two parties, and trying to clean the mess the previous (Democrat) Gov. Ann Rice left. Evidence of the good work is in his high approval rating.

"pure fantasy"

Let's look at this a little more.
Gore in the first debate.
"There is a woman named Winifred Skinner here tonight from Iowa. I mentioned her earlier. She's 79 years old. She has Social Security. I'm not going to cut her benefits or support any proposal that would. She gets a small pension, but in order to pay for her prescription drug benefits, she has to go out seven days a week several hours a day picking up cans. She came all the way from Iowa in a Winnebago with her poodle in order attend here tonight. I want to tell her, I'll fight for a prescription drug benefit for all seniors and fight for the people of this country for a prosperity that benefits all. "

This women also has a son that lives on a thousand acre ranch that would like to take care of her. She would rather have the government and the taxpayers take care of her.

Red,
"just to get my thrills?

That is also a possible explanation

Bush is banking on having a Repblican held congress to advance his agenda. That negates everything he says about bringing the two sides together. It would be right wing heavan if he is elected and the dems don't pick up a net 4 in the senate.(i don't have a count for the house yet).

The pundents are bashing his record in Texas on every news outlet on TV radio and the internet. Tune in.:p

So assisting the old woman with medicine = "enslaving US on entitlements until the economy tanks under taxes"?

like I said...pure fantasy

most of texas problems come from the fact that the tax structure is regressive, the state is supported by a lottery. we're below average in household income for a two year moving average, 31st of 51, at 37,776. alaska is highest at 51,660, and arkansas is lowest at 29,019. add that to the fact that passing pretty much any law requires a constitutional amendment, and that the legislature, where most of the power is, only meets 1/5 of a two year period, and you can see where there could be some problems. is it all shrub's fault? no way in hell.

Red:

Nice string of posts. You're on a roll. I think some University out there ought to give you at least a Masters Degree in Political Science for the last two month's posts. :)

Bush is a weakling, and a fit President for these right wing airheads. They will get nothing from him because we're headed for recession and the next President and Congress will probably think hard and long about any tax cut. Ditto for several of Gore's well-intention social programs if he's elected.

And I love these tekkies with the crystal ball. (The Horizontal Hold is out on mine. :p :p ) Etech KNOWS what will happen if Gore is elected. Ruin, ruin, ruin. But the evidence that Bush has almost ruined Texas is monumental. I'd say the probability is much greater that an idiot with a lousy track record as governor will ruin the country than a wooden V.P. who is a political moderate.

Bush WILL be elected, but he will serve four years, just like his daddy and he will be dumped like a load of manure.

The fantasy is that woman's BS story. Her rich son wants to take care of her, but she is refusing, she's trying to make an example.

What a crock.

403Forbidden, you are starting to sound like a broken record. Let me know if all you are going to do is post "pure fantasy". I'll ignore you from now on.

The point is that women has a family but she is so dependent on government programs that she won't even turn to her family first for help. She would rather be showcased on national television as an ad for more government entitlements. That is an addiction that is dangerous and is an example of the dependency that entitlements can breed.
We of course need charity programs to help those that can't help themselves.

Now I expect you will try the old worn-out, "heartless conservative" argument. It's been tried, it's wrong.
