When a motion picture company, directors, actors, and everybody else involved make a movie and watch the final results before releasing it to the public, do they ever say "Jesus, that was the worst fscking movie I've ever seen!" - or on that same note, do they go into every nationwide release thinking they have the next blockbuster??

I guess they might know that even though they know the movie may suck some serious a$$, (and may very well ruin the actors' careers,) they will be able to attract enough rednecks and morons to see it to turn a profit on it...

Any opinions??

I meant Adam Sandler, as I haven't had the (mis)fortune of seeing the Dana Carvey movie. But if I do I'm sure I'll mean that movie also.

I think they usually do test screenings before a select public audience, who are then asked to answer questions about the film. On occasion, a film that didn't do well in the preview has been taken back to be re-edited or even have some scenes re-shot.

they also have Daylies which are more or less rough cuts of what was shot that day. So usually if a movie is really going down the craphole the studio execs start making the changes so at least they break even. Assuming of course were talking about a movie backed by a larger studio. Smaller B studios can let real bad stuff slide.

There really are crap movies that make it out there though, and in the event a director REALLY doesn't like a movie he can file a request to have his name removed from the film. (in the past they used to replace the directors name with a ficticous director by the name of Alan Smithee, Check out his filmography :))

9 times outta 10 they know it's crap. But rarely does anyone say it's crap publicly. 'Cause if you say it's crap you run the risk of pissing off the wrong people and screwing yourself. Behind closed doors people will say how bad film X was, but in public they won't blast it (usually).
