Wheel refinishing... anyone done this?

So, I fixed up the Maxima (just a minor mechanical issue) but the wheels are really letting it down. Was thinking of having them refinished but I don't want to spend a lot of money on this. Any recommendations on where to go? What kind of cost am I looking at for all 4 wheels?

I think someone just posted about having their wheels redone. It's usually about $150/wheel.

Mine look like absolute shit. 9 years in SoCal heat and sun will do that I suppose. Very very minor curb rash on 2 of them but otherwise it's just the finish that looks horrible.

Well if you want to put the time and elbow grease into it, it's not all that hard to refinish wheels. Start by taking them off the car, applying aircraft stripper to the painted surface, sand the paint off, sand up to 400 grit, apply hi-heat paint, 2-4 layers of clear, done.

NBD really, going to be redoing mine this summer sometime. Going for polished with black accents.

Talk to any local car dealership and ask who they use. All new car dealerships have a wheel re-finisher on hand....and then go directly to them to save some "middle-man" money. I just made a thread about this and I paid $150 for 1 wheel, but it all depends on the colour and finish of the wheel.

When I had my BMW 328i in the body shop with body and wheel damage, they did a fantastic job of fixing the wheel damage and refinishing them. The shop is Custom Auto Body - they're in San Diego. See http://customautobodyshop.com/

I don't know if they did the work themselves or subbed it out to somebody else, but it wouldn't hurt to ask and see what they say.
