Whay are songs so easy to remember?

I just realized, as i was listening to my collection of like 2,000 mp3's, I know the words to almost every song i have! And i dont even like some of them, but i still know the words. I put no effort into learning these songs, and dont even listen to them that often.

Why is it i cant remember other stuff this easy? Like say learn 3 new programming languages at the same speed i can remember the lyrics and beat to a new song?

 

The combination of lyrics and melody combine to make your brain use your left and right lobes, thereby increasing your ability to memorize the lyrics.

Maybe you should make you should make up some songs to teach yourself programming

I've wondered the same thing. There's something unique about music and its effect on the brain. I believe you remember the lyrics because of the melody.
