What's your wireless download speed on your Xbox 360?

It seems the 360 is only negotiating a connection rate of 5.5Mbps with the Access Point.

If I go into the routers console and execute "wl rate 54" it will temporally bring my download speeds up to 2MB/s. (The rate command only supports up to 54 but I'm sure I could get up to 3MB/s if I could go higher. - FYI it seems 3MB/s is the max you can get from Microsoft's servers.)

Unfortunately that is not a real solution. Now I really have to get a second Xbox to test, and a third N router as well, because if this effects other 360's I have to prove it to Microsoft and get them to fix it. God damnit.

Where is the router physically located in relation to the 360? Check out the Wireless sticky at the top of the networking forum...

You can try disabling encryption to see if the status changes

XBox live downloads always seem slow for me as well. I am directly connected via Cat5 with a FIOS 75/35 connection and sometimes 200MB downloads take 5 minutes...

Believe it or not this is actually a 360 Slim hardware problem. o_O It doesn't negotiate the correct Link Rate with some routers.

There is a 15 page thread on SmallNetBuilder in which someone was kind enough to point out to me - http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=7774

Oh and so far I've tried 3 routers:
  • RT-N16 - Working (Full N speeds)
  • RT-N66U - Not Working (5.5Mbps link, 400KB/s Download)
  • 2012 AirPort Express - Not Working (11Mbps link, 800KB/s Download)

It does negotiate properly. I have logged into my switch and it doesn't show any errors. The switch is a Cisco 3750G.

I said some, my RT-N16 works normally. You couldn't have possibly read that entire thread already. :p

Not only that, your talking about a wired connection while I'm talking about wireless.

Edit: Actually, let me change the name of this thread to specify wireless.

I am just wondering why XBox live is slow as well, regardless of the connection type, sorry.

Don't worry about it.

I'm sure it depends on what server you get connected to on XBL, maybe your connected to a bad server. Heck, even the good ones are all over the place in terms of speed.

This is what the server I connect to looks like while downloading a Demo (Cat6 directly to my switch):

I have a 50Mbps (6.25MB/s) connection and can't get over 24Mbps (3MB/s).
