I don't wear watches, yet I can usually tell what time it is within 5 minutes.

Am I the only one with a fake and willing to admit it? I got a fake Tag, cost me $40 Canadian, and it's been running fine. The only problem I had was I needed a new battery, because my friend bet me it wouldn't last in the water for more than 2 minutes. And it did last, but the battery died within a week.

i have an Omega seamaster professional automatic. it's a nice watch and i think it will last me quite a while provided i get it serviced once a year. if you want to get a reliable watch get one that has their service center. a watch wont last unless it is taken care properly including those expensive watch.

I have an old windup watch from my grandfather I ocassionally use on nice ocassions. Daily clunkers I have a new swatch, another $150 watch (both regular analogs) and a $150 digital I got as a gift. All of these have been gifts. My older brother has an addiction to watches, owns about 10 and keep son buying them.

I can't think of too many better ways to waste money with no discernible benefit than to wear a ritzy watch. There was a time when the "status" of a nice watch appealed to me, but those days are over. If I ruin a $50 Timex mountain biking (which I have), no worries. If I ruin a $2K Heuer, my month is pretty well ruined. I also do not find it satisfactory to, as a previous poster stated, service a watch every year!

I wear a Timex Indiglo iControl; I guess if cost were no object I would have a stainless Cartier Panther or Tank watch. My last Timex, which got badly scarred in a velodrome crash, has lasted 5 years and is still working fine, for a whopping $35.

I wear a cheap abc Sports watch, found it at Kmart for under $10, it has probably lasted about 2 or 3 years now. For a while there, if I hit it just right, it would reset to midnight of Dec 1. Other than that, it has held up pretty well.

i'd be all for an expensive watch, but i'd always be paranoid of losing it.

i wouldn't spend more than fifty, unless you find a good deal on one.

Seiko World Timer, a lil black faced beauty of a watch. I picked it up on clearance, store closing type deal for $39 bucks, regularly sold for $399 so 90% off is a pretty good deal to me. :)

Seiko Kinetic Arctura ($500 3 years ago). My girlfriend at the time gave it to me for Christmas... she's my wife now :)

It is a great watch... best one that I have ever had, and I will probably not need another watch for the next 10 years...

thebestmax, you have some good taste... :) and I totally agree your watch can make a statement...but its not up to everyone what kind of watch they can get to describe themself. so a watch is a status symbol like a car... just because I have a mercedes S class doesn't mean I appreciate quality/safety/innovation in cars...it means I can afford quality/safety/innovation... about clinton's POS plastic watch, while some may frown upon it...I think he prolly chose it on purpose...to show that though he is president, he keeps it real if you know what I mean. Do you really want an exuberant president?

I have a Fossil - Blue. I paid $70 for it and have had it for more than a year. I like it, it's got a good weight and gets compliments.
I also have a Breitling Chronomat Gt that I paid a little over $6k for, it's awesome gets a LOT of compliments.

Both are Analoge(!) watches and both good buys, keep good time.

I wear this fossil Blue mulitfunction watch. It's got Day of week, date, and for people that don't know the difference between AM and PM a 24-hour clock too (I sometimes can be confused after taking a long nap :) :) ). Here's a pic

I've got an Eddie Bauer casual watch. I've had it for over four years, has served me just fine. The only thing that sucks is that the gold wire trim around the date window has come loose, and every once in a while it manages to snag my hour and minute hands....hasn't bunged up the motors yet.
