what's your view on life??

I'm tired, and bored, so I figured I would ask a philisophical question. Some friends and I had a discussion about this over the weekend, and it all boils down to this: What do you think life is for, and why do you think that way??

I view life as not really knowing who we are, and why we are here. As the great DesCartes(sp?) once said, I think, therefore I am. The only thing I know for sure in life is that I exist.

How can you be so sure you exist? What if you are just the figment of somebody's imagination?

SM, I've often thought of that myself. What happens if you are in reality just someones dream. That would make reality as we know it non-existant. What happens when they wake up, do we go on existing in our "reality"? Or do we perish only to start it again the next time.

We belive to exist only because what our mind thinks to be our mind recives electical impulses that we belive to be realted to an opportune idea of what reality should be.

You actually exist, because you're interacting with me ( and others) and even if you weren't someting distit from me, would still exist as a form of my immagination.

What if we just think we are interacting w/each other, but we really aren't? What if this message that I'm posting now and the messages you posted earlier don't really exist. Hmmm...I think it's about time I went to sleep. Lack of sleep does strange things to you.

Well, for the simple reason that you interct with those, they exist.
At least a mental simulation fom your mind for you.

They may exist mentally, as a thought, but do they exist physically? The mind is a powerful thing. What if I am the only person in my own perceived world?? What if I even am a person?? What if are all just robots controlled by a greater power for their own amusement, like we have ant farms?? Geeez, it is getting late....

Well, good point. Physical means nothing, as the senses are part of the mind's power. Everything physical is perceived by the senses.
