Here's what I've got so far:

Roasted Turkey on a Baking Steel

Alton Brown's "Best Ever Green Bean Casserole" with panko crumbs
Grown-up sweet potato casserole
Hasselback Potato Gratin
Crockpot glazed carrots
Hawaiian rolls

Decadent crockpot hot cocoa
Crockpot spiced apple cider

“The Thin” famous chocolate chip cookie

Plan is to make most of it ahead of time. The casseroles can all be frozen (then thawed/baked on Thanksgiving), the carrots can be bagged for throwing in the crockpot, the drinks are pretty easy on the day since they just sit in the slow cookers, cookie dough can be frozen ahead of time, etc.

What choo got?

At this rate, I suspect I wont have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving, so I'll likely skip on the excessive prep turkey and just make myself some chicken. Although the thought of maybe making myself a duck seems fun.

I'm on a pretty strict diet right now as well, so I'll be passing on all the fun things. Might make some green beans, plain sweet potatoes (with some cinnamon mixed in to make it feel like a dessert), and maybe even splurge on a bit of stuffing.

Oh, and I've already got all the pie crusts to make the pies this weekend. Last year, the grocery store ran out of the Pillsbury ones, and the generics suuuuucked.

Going to someone's house, which means I don't have to cook!

Probably making a cheesecake (haven't decided between Pumpkin, Snickers, or Irish Cream Chocolate) as my contribution.

I'm pretty conflicted this year. Marie Callender's, Sizzler, and Norms all have Thanksgivings Day specials which only happen once a year. I'll probably hit one for lunch and the other for dinner.

Ahhh that's a great idea! My pressure cooker makes awesome 7" cheesecakes. I was thinking about making a pie (apple-pear with dulce de leche on top), but I am no pie pro, but cheesecake...yessss, we can make this work!

We haven't decided yet, but a turkey and the traditional things are usually what happens.

I like mashed potatoes, gravy and regular yams on thanksgiving usually.

Might have to talk to the wife about being different, but the usual stuff is good.

One of those few times I actually make deviled eggs, and get a wine cheese ball etc, usually even like having a shrimp ring around for the football.

Various beverages.

It's the simple things sometimes.

We used to host it at the house but things have changed a bit over time, so we have gotten a bit more selective about what we make, might do something off the wall this year.

Oh yeah, deviled eggs, adding that to the list!

I was thinking of doing chicken casserole instead of stuffing this year, basically the same thing but with cream & chicken, tastes awesome! But then I'd have like 4 casseroles haha.

Cheesecake cooked in a pressure cooker? Interesting! Got a pic of it by any chance?

One tiny suggestion for the deviled eggs... top 'em with chopped up bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. :awe:

Drive to woman's moms house.
Eat delicious food.
Take home leftovers.
Enjoy leftovers.

I know most guys like to talk crap about their MIL, but, Stephanie's mom is OK in my book.

I have the 6-quart Instant Pot model, which can fit a 7" springform pan. Lots of recipes out there such as this one:

http://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-samoa-cheesecake/

If you're looking for an electric model, they're on sale for $120:

The pan I got seems out of stock from the normal retailer ($13), but here it is:

That actually sounds pretty good...my secret is pickle juice. I mix that in with the filling & it makes the flavor pop.

My secret is Sriracha. It's usually a mix of Sriracha, dill, mustard, Worcester, salt, pepper, mayo, dash of cayenne, paprika. Sprinkle a little more dill and paprika on top when all done to make them look purty.

I don't know, but for the first time in 4 years the dinner will NOT be at my house - yay!

I'll probably make creamy mashed potatoes which is what I make in most of these family meals. My wife usually does a veggie dip tray and a vegetable casserole.
