What's your secret/theory to success?

My little theory on success is composed of 3 ingredients; information, careful planning and persistence. I think if each of those factors are taken into consideration then success might be around the corner.

I've had moderate success in real estate investing over the past few years and if things work out as planned I think mid to late next year I will earn my first million. (crosses fingers) However I'm still currently working a full time job at a large telecom company, I'm hoping to be able to quit in the near future. A lot of that will depend on how well I do in the next few weeks with a small wholesale enterprise I'm developing at present.

So what's your theories on success and share some of your stories.

That's probably true to a certain degree, but there's a lot of people with a wealth of information who still never succeed.

QFT

Luck / Fate is a big part of success.

Talent / Persistence is the other part.

secret to success: doing what you are satisified with doing. i.e. Having a job that you enjoy vs. a job that pays more but makes you miserable 8 hours a day.

good point, there's definitely something to be said for doing what you love or satisfied with. But does that always translate into success? Also just out of curiosity if you had the choice of taking a job you love but would remain there for 30 years or a job you hate but you could retire in 10 which would you go for?

who was it, a jack handy quote maybe... "when i die i hope they say 'that guy sure owed me alot of money' " ?

Set priority, put things that must be done on top, then the ones with best bang for the buck, then the ones that can be done with little additional effort with the things above.

Get good influences from the right people.

I think the one key to success is indeed persistence. Focused persistance to be exact. If you want to be successful you have to be the best at what you do, so spending lots of time studying your craft (persistence in learning) as well as learning from your mistakes (persistence in experience) will lead you down that path. Even if you do something well, you can always do better.

I am a firm believer that any average person can be successful. Most people just don't realize their true talent or are afraid to take risks. Success in financial freedom can also be attained by most people, its just that no one in America has any self control when it comes to money.

Anyways, there are a thousand different "keys" to success. There's no outright formula. Find something you love, then do everything in your power to become the best at it. So many atheletes and rich business men always say they earned their success with determination.... it's kind of watered down these days and no one appreciates that saying much anymore. But its true and with determination you can break any barriers.

tough choice.

make it 30 years/25 years and I'd probably go with the 30 years of happiness
