What is the goal?

In general I'm not sure why you would pick the following (few benefits):

Voodoo 4: (More expensive than Geforce2 MX)
MSI 6167: (Abit KT7 and Asus K7A are the general favorites)
Winme: (if games, most ppl agree 9se is better, if not JUST for games, I highly recommend win2k, its a real os)
Pioneer 10x (Tosh 12x for quieter, pioneer 16x for sheer speed)
Aopen (comes less recommended than plextor, and some others)
CTX 19inch (Don't know the price, but Samsung has some great low cost 19inchers)
Overkill I'd say on keyboard and mouse. Go to a local store, and get somthing that feels comfortable for about 25-28 bucks apiece.
Don't know anything about the boston acc. dual woofer system, but the Klipsch Promedias are incredible.

I think you're running your CPU too slow. 700@700? What's up with that?

Is he ready to be initiated yet? :D

dogbite, you look into getting a Duron setup instead of an Athlon. For one, it's cheaper, and there'll be more upgradability along the way (you can take it out and plant it in a DDR motherboard).

I don't have any experience with CTX monitors, but with what I have heard, getting one that will last a long time is pretty much luck of the draw. Again, there are some nice 19"ers by Samsung like the 955DF, 900IFT and 900NF, and by KDS, the AV195TF. These are all great 19" monitors. If you buy Sony, beware the cost.

Ok as far as the Mouse and Keyboard...yeah they maybe expensive, but they are an excellent choice. I liked mine so much I bought a set for my PC at work also! ASUS is definately my choice for M/B's they are rock solid. Win2K is definately the way to go on the O/S, even for games its not bad at all and most newer games are supporting it. The only games that I couldn't get to work were NFS3&4 which I guess there is a patch for it now! Monitor... no this is my big stickler... Go with something that has a excellent picture and match it with an excellent video card... for goodness sakes this is what your eyes have to look at day in day out, you really want to have a blazing fast computer with a $hitty monitor? Trust me I would go for the preformace hit on the PC and get a excellent Monitor! The Sony monitors are nice but, A KDS 19" AV195TF is a great choice, I have the predecessor and it is awesome for the buck! Now I am not an AMD fanatic but well we'll just leave it at that... but I must say I am very impressed with the Thunderbird! V4... hmmm well I use to be the biggest 3Dfx fan but I finally saw the light and transitioned to a Nvidia based card and WOW, I must say it is so much clearer and so much better!! I haven't had the best of luck with Maxtor HDD's I have had 5 die with in the last 3 years and have had only 1 WD drive die on me! We won't even get into how many quantums Bigfoots! CD-ROM, hmm Kenwood 52X or 72X.. I love my 72X, as far as a DVD... buy a 6X drive, unless you really need a fast one, I have the 6X Creative with the Dxr3 card, its a much better picture! CDRW I would go with a SCSI burner, yeah you have to buy a SCSI card but I have had less problems with them. My SCSI Yamaha 8x4x24 is great! That is my $.02!
