What's your iPhone look like

No worries. It was really only a sentence or two that sounded off.

Anyway, yes. There's no perfect solution yet and both OSes are very good at whatever their competition is lacking. I'm not sure how mobile Windows is these days, but from the sounds of it it's fairly fluid but a little too locked down as well. Plus there's just not the userbase trying to hack and develop for it.

Exactly... it's not a defeat for either platform to admit imperfection. But the zealots can't seem to accept that and fight EVERY SINGLE STUPID POINT to DEATH. And worse yet, it's hard to even discuss the cons of a platform because it's just seen as thread crapping or trolling now.

True about windows... I don't know where I'd even begin to look for WM7 Devs. But I have high hopes for WM7... Once they get underway on Nokia hardware I may look to get my hands on one to play with.

(I may also end up jailbreaking this iPhone 4 I'm trying to sell and making it a toy as well... I'm such a junkie for this stuff. )

My iPhone 4 was always kept in stock configuration except the notifications(I think I used notified Pro). I found it best like the way it was and my Atrix is pretty much stock. After playing around with it for a month and customizing it I eventually went back to stock. I don't even use widgets that much(I just use the facebook one).

Stop being so defensive. This is just like phanboys who can't admit iPhones have better battery life than their DroidXs...
Maybe that's because the DroidX owners can buy an extended battery(s) that last 3x as long as any stock battery, so it's NOT universally true that iPhone battery life is better. Personally, if I couldn't just pop off a cover and swap my phone's battery at will -I don't care what the internal battery life is- I'd consider that a major negative.

Anyway, before I'm accused of 'thread crapping' for pointing out the obvious, I have to say I do like the look of iOS and there's not that much to improve on. If Apple would allow widgets, it'd be pretty much perfect. It's so odd to me that they don't since they have dashboard on OSX that was many people's introduction to the whole widget concept. Why are they so reluctant to allow a similar function on iOS? They could keep the same developer control going as they do for apps. The iPhone is one thing, but honestly, it's the iPad that to me looks most ridiculous just having pages and pages of big square icons with all that screen real estate that could be used so much more effectively.

For me, it's not about looks or 'themes', but function. Some core functions are just inarguably better reached via a widget, than opening an app or searching through menus. When I'm on the go, It's awesome being able just to glance at the phone's desktop, or toggle a widget to get to what I need. It's a no-brainer on a mobile device. Nicely designed widgets would only improve on the iOS. Hopefully Apple will reconsider in iOS 5.

The problem is one side will just try to actually discuss the topic. Then the other side will just say something that the other side just needs to defend and then that's how it spirals out of control.

There are cases with batteries built in. Just saying.

iphone 4 - changed icons to "black ups darkness". otherwise, it was completely stock for as long as i can remember.

edit - also forgot to mention that i changed the antenna bars back from 4.0.1+ to the 4.0 ones. example (from anand himself!) -

i love the dark theme on that.

rectangular...black...fits in my pocket...maybe 1/4" thick...has a screen and a button. I don't know what else to tell you.

lol the clock app says 12:45, and the time on time says 12:21 PM.

The clock app is usually just a static image, however there are apps for jailbreakers that switch the clock icon for the live clock time. It's something I use. I also have the weather icon display the current live weather and temp, otherwise that's also just a static image that doesn't match anything.

A little off topic and not trying to hate, but why would your inbox have 240 emails unread? Spam?

I have work and personal email on my phone and I'm obsessive about keeping the inboxes clean I guess..

I used to think the same thing, but now that I have my work email on my phone I can see why. Lots of people just simply get throngs of email that they will probably never read. It's not worth reading them just so the counter goes down. This is made exponentially more frustrating with the iphone's lack of "mark all as read" control. I had to download a jailbroken app just to get this obvious and necessary button. Do they have this yet? Is it in iOS5 for people in the beta?

I guess. Professionally speaking, I don't think there's any excuse for not reading a work related email, but that's just me.

The 'mark all as read' button would only cause me to worry more that I missed an important email. To each his own.

QFT...also most of the time your "in-office" email client will handle read/unread issues.

Impossible. I'm on every single distribution list at work.

If it's there, I don't see it. 🙁
