Just bought this today but hesitant to open it due to the reported bugs. Anyone experience bugginess yet? How's the gameplay?

What I find interesting is Gamespot gave Fable 2 an 8.5 which is a fairly good score but said the story and characters lack depth and the good and evil paths don?t seem well-balanced. How can a game, in which those are the main selling points and most important parts of the game, be weak and still get a good score?

Good question. I can say that I don't find that the characters lack depth at all.. i'm enjoying the game :) And what bugs are you hearing about? So far gameplay is perfectly smooth for me. I'm sure there are bugs, there always are... but nothing that has impacted my game so far. Basically if you liked Fable 1 you'll love this game, if you didn't like it you won't. Gameplay is like Fable 1 with more of everything. :)

As for the good and evil paths being unbalanced.... they probably are. I haven't played evil yet, but it seems like just to be real it shouldn't be balanced. The whole idea of purity and "goodness" is that you resist the tempation and lure of power and riches that the dark side offers for the benefit of "good". It would be easy to be good if they were balanced and there was nothing to tempt you over.

Like the saying goes... "come to the dark side, we have cookies."

Well said. Unbalanced doesn't mean not fun. Especially in a single-player / co-op game. Disgaea, in its own way, is pretty much the most unbalanced game I've ever played. It's also a ton of fun, because it's all about exploiting the tricks. :)

There is a lot of loading... that's a legitimate complaint. It hasn't bothered me much, but I can see how it could be annoying to people. When the new "xbox experience" is released and you can just dump the game onto your hard drive, that might make the loading times a lot faster so that it's a non-issue.
