what's your ideal way of growing up through adulthood ?

samples:

HS --> graduate college --> back with parents while dating / working --> save money for house --> get married --> buy house together

HS --> graduate college --> get own apartment / date S.O. --> get married --> buy house together

Keep in mind the financial factor which makes some scenarios better than others... how would you have liked it to work out ? Or did you think what you did was just fine ?

HS -> graduate college -> get own apartment with some roommates while dating, working, hanging out, etc-> move around, live in various places, travel to other countries -> around 30 get married -> buy house together

This is my ideal way at this point in my life:

HS -> College (home with parents for a couple summers while working fulltime) -> Apt w/ girl hopefully  -> Nice job w/ family 🙂

HS ---> move out completley and never return ---> college self-supported ---> meet future fiance ---> get great job ---> propose ---> graduate college ---> buy house ---> turn 21 ---> get married

I am between "meet future fiance ---> get great job"

HS > Start College > Leave home forever > Finish college > Live wild and free life of the young and restless > find a girl > get married > make the babies > threaten their boyfriends with castration > pay for everything > die old and bitter

HS --> College (living with parents) --> Job --> marriage/move out --> get better job (repeat) --> have kids --> buy house --> buy bigger house --> repeat

Working part time > Investments > HS > College > Graduate > Swinging bachelor pad with investment money > Get a job > Nicer bachelor pad > Find hot girl > Find other hot girl > Threesome > repeat x1000 > Find nicer girl > Marriage > Nice house > Kids > Turn 30 > Additional threesomes > Live happily ever after > Die

In theory, anyway.

Drop out of HS--> Apt with druggie friends--> Get slut pregnant--> Rob liquor stores to support family--> Accidentally shoot cop during robbery--> Life sentence--> Become Bubba's bitch--> Make Bubba your bitch--> Prison revolt--> Escape to South America--> Marry local girl in small coastal town--> Spend the rest of your days fishing.

living alone sucks and guy roomates won't cook/sex you

live in girlfriends do the same and you can swap them every couple months

true, but I have yet to date a girl who's religious beliefs didn't preclude that

Why would I live with my parents any longer than necessary. Bleh.
Because you save up a ton of money... assuming you're working fulltime then.

This is one thing that doesn't make sense to me... if you're allowed to stay at home (they don't kick you out)... why not do it ? Your other option is to rent through college (no money in the first place) or rent (~$700-1000/mo.) while you're working full-time, barely starting on your savings. That's about $10k off your annual salary... that's $10k you could've saved [in addition] if you continued to live at home, per year. By then, your full-time job savings could get you a down-payment on a house by 25. Basically, it takes so much longer if you rent unnecessarily. This is assuming you want a house.

Teens are so quick to want to enter the free world that they don't realize it's a huge financial strain from the day they leave the nest. My biggest problem though, is that some parents want to kick their kids out at 18. WTF ? They're still your kids... there's other ways to learn responsibility.

thoughts on this ? I know it happens...

HS --> start one or more highly successful businesses --> organize businesses so that you no longer have to babysit them on a day-to-day basis (but they still produce income) --> buy some houses --> do random fun stuff as the mood strikes you forever.

(I didn't include marriage and stuff like that, 'cause I'm trying to keep it realistic.)
