my folks are working on building a new custom home. The choices for style are seemingly infinite, and they are pretty open to whatever, so, what do you guys think is the best? we want to take into consideration what most style most people like (as well as our own of course), as it is benefitial to resale values (for future).
Look at local exterior architecture styles and use those as a guide. In Texas, I would assume that natural stone and stucco would be more common.
Custom homes usually mean a higher price range, and buyers in those brackets can afford to be fussier, so you're pretty much stuck hoping that the next person that comes along happens to like the style of the house (of course, people with deep pockets can also afford extensive remodeling), so you'd be far better off considering the interior layout flow and the extras than the outside appearance. Don't forget the cat-5e and RG-6! 😉
thanks for reminding me. what else do they need to do now, in the design phase? lumitron (sp) lights? i dont' know anything else.
