Who is going to admit on here they didn't finish high school?

I didn't finish, per se. I was expelled for a time and had to attend a correctional school, during which I completed the remainder of my high school. It wasn't a traditional graduation.

Then I did about a year and a half of college.

I am also not sure why there is even a stigma on getting a GED. I mean, it is a test on the basic knowledge you're supposed to get in high school. I would imagine a good amount of high school graduates couldn't pass it. There is no negativity connected with testing out of a college course, why high school?

Master's but holy shit, my entire company is full of them -- not because it's necessary. A lot of them did a foreign degree and got a local master's. Everyone and their mother has them now...

To me GED = high school education.

But who is going to admit that didn't even make it THAT far?

How do so many here have masters degrees and no one has a doctorate? When I investigated getting a masters degree, everyone told me I couldn't do it without at least aiming for a doctorate.

It depends on the field. Tech field or business, masters gets you the job and PHD gets you a teaching career. Liberal Arts often its PHD or bust.

This exactly. There is no need for a PHD in most professions. Of course there are exceptions to this if you are really specializing in some specific area.

There's a stigma associated with taking 7 years to get a 4 year degree.
