I am a PhD student in psychology at the University of Cambridge, and I’m doing a study on the types of games we play, and how our gaming styles vary. I wrote a survey that asks questions about your gaming preferences, personality, and stress level, and then gives you some feedback on your personality type and what type of gamer you are.
You can take the survey if you are at least 18 years old and play any kind of digital games, including casual mobile games. The whole survey takes less than ten minutes, and your answers will be completely confidential. http://concerto4.e-psychometrics.com/?wid=143&tid=22

You are a passionate Eclectic Gamer!

This is just a personality test that will then attach whatever games we play to our results. I guess there is something to it but it just seems like a way for someone to say "Look, all these mentally unstable people love shooters!"

You are a a master Strategist Gamer!

Your analytical mind can tackle any puzzle or problem. It might be managing cities and resources, commanding armies on the battlefield, or just solving abstract puzzles, but your powers of logic and strategy are unmatched.

Thanks OP! Coming from a pysch research background years ago, I can appreciate a well-crafted questionnaire and a thoughtful topic of study. This was great. 🙂

A comments section might have been a good idea. A lot of my answers might be misleading considering they're affected by chronic illness 😛

You are a casual Eclectic Gamer!

You aren't limited to just one style or genre, but are equally at home in games of strategy, action, problem solving, and exploring!

Sounds about right 🙂

For everyone who has ever posted a thread here claiming to be doing research for a University, this is the correct way to do it. Thanks to the OP for actually doing it properly, and I will gladly do the survey.

I'm a dedicated Eclectic Gamer. haha, I knew that.

Which is true as I haven't been gaming nearly as much in the last year as I used to.

Master Explorer: You can lose yourself in immersive, open-world games full of adventure and unlimited possibilities. Strategy doesn't matter as much as just feeling like you're inside the world of the game.

Seems accurate as I play WWII flight sims and imagine filling the shoes and being immersed.

You are a master Zen Gamer!

You prefer relaxing games that make your real life worries disappear. Scores are achievements aren’t so important to you. You’d rather settle in and enjoy the experience.

Not to surprised.

Yeah that sounds like me.
