Hmm, I'd have to think harder about which system I prefer between the SNES and N64. Both were amazing...

N64 probably. I was never into Mario 64 as much as other people were but Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Goldeneye, Turok, Perfect Dark and Jet Force Gemini was great games.

PS2, since it also plays PS1 games.

I didn't get one until a few years ago, so there were stacks and stacks of great games, most of them for $20 or less.

PS2. It had lots of great games and it plays PS1 games as well. It was also the first DVD player in my household.

PS2

I think I played that one more than all the others combined, and I have a 360 and Wii and a PS3.

Don't really have a favorite as the games are more important and each console had its fair share.

Hard to say. N64 was great because it allowed a lot of innovation and there was a stronger focus on single player, since online gaming wasn't around. Goldeneye brought about some awesome split screen tournaments when I was in high school and jr high.

Then came Xbox and the original Halo which was similar. great story, very fun and awesome system link matches. And they introduces Xbox Live shortly after which imo changed console online play like Goldeneye for the shooter genre and Mario Kart 64 for arcade style racers.

All comes down to what you like. I think some of the older members here have a bigger connection with older consoles just because they were so revolutionary and they grew up on it or lived on them for so long. When N64 was first out there wasn't really anything like it for the package you got.

Some of the most use I got was for my N64. Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros, Mario 64, Mario Kart, Zelda, etc.

I also had a SNES which I played to death. Super Mario World was and is still a fun and addictive game.

Having said that, from a pure fun factor and the fact I can get online and play with any number of people at any point in time I like my 360. Graphics are great, online multiplayer is great and you can still find some really good single player games. Mass Effect for example. There is just so much already created its tough to be original like back in the days of the N64 when there was still so much to be made.

That really is a harder question than you would think. Agreed that I think the nostalgia of the older consoles is there simply because back then it was all fresh and new, and each new generation really WAS a generation (and the lifetime of the consoles was quite long).

Most people went from an Atari 2600 to an NES which was a huge jump.

NES was around for what seemed ever before the next gen of more popular systems came out.

Never could get into the genesis, or n64 (had both and promptly sold them).

My personal favorites are the SNES and PS2.

Although I was alive and well when the 2600 came out my fav console was the snes and genesis. Best games ever on those 2 systems. Followed closely by the ps2. After that games on all consoles went to shit imo.

Yeah, there is no excitement going from Call of Duty 10 and Madden 1365896 on XBox to Call of Duty 11 and Madden 1365897 on 360.

No wonder everyone is trying to cash cow up the classics on cross platform virtual consoles and portables, they know its the best they've got and know their current shit sucks

Probably the NES. It's also one of the few consoles I've never owned.

I still regularly play RBI Baseball. That game is still fun today as it was back in 1987. My friends and I would have marathon sessions of that game. Countless all nighters were pulled playing that game.

Having played every console and computer since the 70s my favorite is the 360. I have no desire to load a 2600 cartridge, or do some *.*,8,1 or 'brun' on a 13" monochrome monitor, or a crappy tv. My 360 and my 42" LCD is my favorite console.

Of all time, i'd say it's a tie between the SNES and PS1.

The SNES had a great library of RPG and platform games. The PS1 ushered in a new era of gaming and introduced us to 32bit disc based games, memory carts, vibration feedback, full motion videos, and in game voice acting/ motion capturing. Lets not forget revolutionary titles like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and Gran Tursimo!

Same. I'll always love plenty of games from past eras, and I have a really big soft spot for the SNES, but this current gen is amazing.
