And in the time since this thread was posted, I DID get to see They Might Be Giants again, just two weeks ago

I guess I'd have to say Dream Theater. I have all of their studio albums, official and unofficial bootlegs, singles, and a few of their Christmas club cds.

In high school my favorite band was U2. I can't really stand them now.

Ditto, and ditto, though I don't have as much of Dream Theater's non-studio releases. This is what turned me away from U2, and they just haven't been the same since.

Oh, almost forgot about the MC-5. When in the right frame of mind, they are better than any metal that followed. Otherwise they sound like an electric razer bouncing around inside a rusty muffler.

Don't have one. My music tastes have changed over the years and my preferences change constantly. I like a whole library of different music from all genres and there's no way i could pick one single favorite band.

Pink Floyd, by a very very long shot.

I like a lot of the bands listed here, by PF are true craftsmen. The music is exquisite, the lyrics deep, meaningful and timeless, the sound is unique. They will stand the the test of time very well and will still be listened and enjoyed long after many of the bands listed here have been completely forgotten.

Either The Mars Volta or Guns N' Roses followed very closely by Led Zeppelin...

I hate to be so cliché and say Led Zeppelin, but I wore out those albums more than Hendrix and SRV, but not by much.
