For awhile I was TRYING to acquire the taste for Glenlivet 12yr.

The soul was willing, but my body's auto-wretching mechanism could not be defeated...And at $30 a bottle, I'm not all that disappointed.

Even tried the Johnnie Walker Blue Label once, tasted like liquid sterile gauze.

So much for trying to give myself some 'class'.

Johnny Walker Red Label if you mean stuff I can afford, or Gold Label if you mean my absolute favorite.

I went through the same ordeal. Now I just drink Dewars and take the insults from my friends for having no class and pocket the cash.

Tangle Ridge (rye with a tiny bit of sherry)

Crown is also excellent.

I have 2 bottles of 22 and 23 year old Century Reserve now too.

Ran into some Scottish guys who told me Johnnie was junk...and yes, I've had it. They kept giving me glasses of Glenfidditch something on the rocks...it was great. The only whiskey I've ever come across that I could sip straight.

For mixing, though, I like Jim Beam, Black Label if I can get it.
