What's your favorite scanner?

Heres the dilemma...
I have +- $150 plus s/h for a new scanner. Flatbed, usb... not really that important.
I have rounded down my choices to a couple and I wanted to get some opinions.

I am looking for a good quality, fast scanner... the software doesn't have to be super easy to setup or use. Customer service should exist, but service isn't all that crucial.

Recommendations would also be very helpful.

Thanx 🙂

If you really want a "fast" scanner, I suggest you look at firewire scanners. A lot faster than usb. Microtek makes one (comes with it's own firewire card too). I have it and am very pleased with it. The speed is supurb. It's a bit outside your price range however.

Epson scanners have been about the best you can get over the last couple of years. I have a older 636U model and it works great. They have many newer models that have higher resolution than mine and are faster. I think a good one for price is their 1200 model.

I've got the Canon N1220U, and I'm really happy with it. You can't beat the Canon line for looks and space savings either.

I've installed USB scanners and find them really easy to work with. The Canon model which is also USB powered was awesome. But I still like my old SCSI Microtek E-3. Believe it or not I'm very satisfied with this unit. So even though prices have dropped tremendously, I'm reluctant to rid of this SCSI unit. It's sure is fast. USB is faster than Parallel but SCSI gets it all.

I just installed an Epson 1250 on a customers computer and I hate to say it but it seems much slower then the Epson 1240U's I used to sell
