New Balance fan here. Mainly because they come in 4E wide. They fit my big ass feet better than other brands. And I have to give them props for making the wider sizes available for so long. They really made the wide shoe mainstream when Nike, Adidis, and Asics didn't give a rats ass about wide feet.

Asics or Nike. Lately it's been Nike, the Air Max Moto line of shoes has the best fit for narrow footed supinators like me.

The Asics Gel Nimbus was a wonderful shoe, but I don't like the fit of the recent ones.

As for the money comment - if you are doing 5....10....15....or more mile runs, comfort and a proper fit for your foot type are critical. If you have very difficult feet (like me) you sometimes have no option but spending big bucks ($80+ a pair) to get the fit that you need.

As for the OP - there is no perfect shoe. Go to your local technical running store and get a proper fit. You'll pay a few bucks more than you would at Finish Line, but you are also getting somebody that acutally knows that every foot is different.

I run regularly...and have run in several marathons. If you're serious about running, don't believe anyone on here. Go to the local running store and talk to the salesman (Running store is not the local "Sports Authority", but rather a store dedicated to runners. They should have knowledgeable salesman. Tell him/her what kind of running you'll be doing and let them pick some shoes for you to try. Jog around in them and make sure they give you the right support and comfort.

People in running are just as much brand snobs as they are in any other consumer product (audio, cars, etc). Don't buy a brand just because people say "that's the brand to get". You need to find the right shoe for you.

A year ago, I would have said "NB" without hesitation. And I still buy NB for every day use but ever since I bought a nice pair of Asics, I will never buy another shoe for actually running in. They are easily the most comfortable running shoe I've ever owned. I tried on countless ones when recently shopping for a good pair and there was no comparison, IMO.

I've good luck with Asics and Saucony myself, with Adidas coming in close behind them. I've got a pair of Asics that I'm breaking in right now.

Nike shoes, ugh, every time I buy Nike shoes, they start to give me shin splints. I've tried several pairs in the past and they all had the same effect, something with the soles, I think. Either way, I'm not going to spend another 100 USD for shoes that I may need to replace in a matter of weeks.

New Balance, and I know several others in my family will agree. Great shoe for the price.

Asics Kayanos are perfect for ME. As advised go to a local running store (not a chain) and get fitted for your best shoe.

check out a site like www.roadrunnersports.com and find out what type of feet you have and the shoes for your feet then head to a local real running store to try them on. I like brooks, sauconys, nb, lately asics seem to run a little narrow if you have wider feet, adiddas/nike are all show.

Same here. Brooks Beasts have done wonders for me.
