I went to a live "performance" of 4'33".
I thought it was pretty interesting. You start off thinking "this is silly", but the longer it goes on the more intense the silence becomes. Your ears quickly start to develop levels of perception you didn't originally believe were possible.
It might have helped that the theater was packed. The latent energy of the large audience added to the atmosphere.
