As was mentioned, Beethoven Piano Concerto #5. I find it the most heroic piece ever written. Beethoven approached his oncoming deafness not by wilting away, but by trying to write a bigger, grander piano concerto than can be realistically imagined. Because he attempted the impossible it's not perfect, but it's greatness transcends "perfect" music.
