What's Your Favorite Mech?

I absolutely love Thor/Summoner for some reason. It's not quite the looker and definitely does not look menacing but there is something captivating about the simplicity of its design that I can't put my finger on.

whats the medium weight one that has a cockpit nose like a fighter jet and missle packs on both its shoulders? May be the madcat?

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with the Mad Cat as well. I always thought the Atlas looked goofy, but after seeing that MW preview vid, it looked pretty freaking scary.

Yep, that's the Mad Cat/Timber Wolf. Probably the most popular/iconic Mech.

Agreed. When most people think of "MechWarrior" the Madcat is pretty much the first/only Mech to come to mind.

I wish they would make a new Mechcommander game with a awesome engine, like the one in COH. That would be bad ass, having 100s of Mechs duke it out on screen, all of which have been customized by you.

The slow one that could hold a retarded amount of missile launchers. Fire all of those bad boys off at once and the enemy mech was toast. Granted, I usually didn't have enough ammo to complete the mission IIRC. 🙂

The Mad Cat/Timber Wolf is a 75 tonner Heavy Mech.

When reading the description, I immediately thought of Mad Dog/Vulture (60 ton mech making it Medium iirc)

For me it would have to be the Awesome. In the animated series, the leader of "the good guys" piloted an Awesome when they became available.

Along with the awesome there are two mechs that I fear, the iconic Atlas which takes and deals crazy punishment and the War Hawk/Masakari with 4 Clan ER PPC's makes it a fearsome opponent, unless you snipe its arms.

Locust. Only ever played the Original, so perhaps things changed with later versions, but I took out everything in the Locust. Just run around the enemy, aim for the legs(just one), Fire until they fall over. It also gave great Salvage as the Damage was very limited.

I would have said the Catapult. Mad Cat (at least the MK II) has arms as well.

I'm a Nova Cat person myself.

For style or utility?

Both if you want. 🙂

I remember using the Nova quite a bit during my Mech 2 days.. easy to fit with heat sinks, jump jets, and enough lasers to have some fun. For style? Well, to be honest, all the mechs look so freakin' cool, especially the heavy mechs. 🙂

I have to go with the Mad Dog / Vulture in general. Once you get into the much later technical readouts though, I loved me some of the Inner Sphere Gausse Rifle Heavy Mechs...

I liked the crab myself. It was kind of crappy, but in MW2 mercs after the dynamic salvage patch, the thing came in handy since it's lasers were position to make hitting other mechs in the cockpit considerably easier then most mechs. Not sure why, just always seemed that way to me.

Vulture.

Maybe the Puma - you could really pack them with weapons to hit very hard and when moving in packs they could be devastating to the largest of mechs.

On the board or in video games?

For the video games it was Novacat.

For the board, I'd have to go back and look at my books again. I dont recall ever having a favorite.
